Usher Sunrise Concert reviews
The Who at Chase Center, San Francisco
A nearly full Chase Center enjoyed two hours of Usher, with remaining members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend. Their backup band, led by Zac Starkey, was great, and they were joined by a full orchestra. Daltrey had to quit a show two weeks earlier due to a cold or allergy, but the rest worked as he sounded fantastic, still hitting the soaring high notes of "Love Reign O'er Me". Great. At their ages, 70's, one could forgive the forgotten note or the missed lyric, but they sounded like two artists who still loved what they were doing. Some day soon, these rock icons will be gone. We won't see their likes again. Townsend was more animated and in better spirits than I've ever seen, joking about the age of the crowd, and how much younger he was than Daltrey. The orchestra was a great addition. All in all, it was a fabulous show.
